CovaTech®
Pilates®
Method
The CovaTech® Pilates® School in Milan, where I trained, is the first and most prominent teacher training school for Pilates in Italy.
It was founded by Anna Maria Cova, a former dancer turned physiotherapist, and a pioneer in introducing Pilates to Italy since 1989.
The CovaTech® Pilates® method retains the original structure of Joseph H. Pilates’ approach but enhances it with current knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and physiotherapy. This development broadens the technique’s scope and makes it accessible to everyone.
The leading training school in Italy
3 Additional Principles
In addition to J.H. Pilates’ principles, the CovaTech® Pilates® method adds three more, designed to support the learning process:
1. Awareness
Helping students stay present in both body and mind during their training.
2. Visualisation
The use of keywords and imagery aids in performing exercises correctly.
3. Rhythm
Establishing an appropriate dynamic ensures everyone can engage effectively in the class.
